This Interest Group focuses on introducing and raising awareness around the wider topic of science communication and particularly science communication for research data, to serve the broader RDA vision. It aims to discuss the current state of practice, help identify gaps and requirements, and shed light on the actors and stakeholders involved, their incentives and drivers.
It looks at science communication as shared responsibility and shared opportunity, as it supports researchers in the dissemination and outreach around their work, increasing citations and enabling collaboration. Furthermore, with this specific session as part of the RDA 21st Plenary activities, it hopes to bring forward a discussion on the emerging opportunities around data visualisation and AI based tools like science chatbots. What are the benefits and concerns? How can these emerging tools and techniques be leveraged for science communication, to further facilitate understanding and elicit a better response from audiences than the textual forms have been known to produce?
