    Dear PROV IG
Unfortunately these days I am attending an EPOS (European Plate Observing System) project meeting, so it wasn’t possible for me to join the call and directly listen to the progress.
However, going through the minutes of the last meetings and the status of the discussion, I found several topics of interest which have been taken up from projects we worked in cooperation with partners and in the field of earth science.
    1. Visualisation. We have developed a few tools and interfaces evolving around the provenance data model which maps to PROV (to be more precise, the model maps to a profile that we have developed, called S-PROV, to represent data-intensive computations). A talk on this topic was given during the last EGU in a session on visualization of earth-science information.

Slides are also available, if of interest
    https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/2101200/vis-prov.pdf
    2. Provenance within HPC. In the same context we have integrated the production of S-PROV within a framework that allows to develop data-intensive applications that scale in HPC (but not exclusively to that). The provenance and lineage is approached with flexible metadata contextualization, tunable precision. It aims at supporting run-time monitoring and exploitation of the lineage, as well for ‘post-mortem’ validation. Part of the work is described in the following e-Science papers. We are currently working on a dedicated publication. The framework has been already deployed and used within a platform for computational seismology. http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7304295/, http://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7304329/
Currently we are participating also to requirements and use case discussion in the context of climate services.
I will take part to the C3S general assembly (https://climate.copernicus.eu/events/c3s-general-assembly), where a follow-up dedicated meeting organized by the ECMWF will be held to discuss provenance use cases and requirement for their CDS (Climate Data Store).
Especially on this last topic, if the group is interested, I will try to provide a small update on the progress, trying to see if the CDS team is also happy to contribute.
    Cheers
    Alessandro
