    Dear group members,
We have now confirmed the agenda for our event in Tokyo on the 29th
    February.
The event will run from 5pm to 7pm, do join us if you can and please
circulate the details to others who may be interested:
Competences and Skills for Data and Research Infrastructures: Creating a
    basis for international cooperation
    Date: 29 February 2016
Time: 17:00 – 19:00 – drinks and light supper will be provided
In Europe the EU-funded EDISON project is formally analysing the skills
and competences needed to conduct data science in a professional manner
across all disciplines, but particularly in the context of research
infrastructures. At the same time the project is investigating the
skills and competences that universities and other teaching and training
establishments are currently offering and planning to offer in the
future. As part of the RDA 7th Plenary in Tokyo, the EDISON project team
are hosting a welcome session for people from Japan, and elsewhere,
interested in the challenges for data and computing training and
education who would like to hear what is happening in Europe and also
meet some of the people involved in this work.
The goal of this event is to bring together a range of experts and
strategists from diverse areas who are all interested in the global
challenges for education and training for Data Science. Members of
some of RDA’s related Interest and Working Groups will also contribute
and present on-going findings as a contribution to the discussions. In
particular the Interest Group on Education and Training on handling of
research data will contribute to the event.
