RE: [rda-legalinterop-ig] Re: RDA guidelines and policies re: individual publishing

    Hi all,
Considering the issue about “… or to distribute any documents we’ve collaboratively drafted for RDA review” and Simon´s answer “That would not be appropriate until the document is published in late February.”, ….
I give for granted, though, that distribution is allowed and recommended for databases or e-infrastructures of the current list of use cases when they have meetings in which they can advance some of their analysis. That implies among others iMarine (now BlueBridge), and CReATIVE-B (now Globis-B) which have a meeting and a workshop, respectively, in late January and late February (we had already agreed to this in the final telecom we had in late November, so this is only a reminder).
In any case, since workshop 1 of Globis-B coincides with the RDA-CODATA meeting in Japan, the version of the Principles and Guidelines that will be the one commented or considered will very possibly be be the post-review February one; but since we have in Ámsterdam next week a preparatory meeting of the said Workshop 1 very posible we will agree there to distribute the current version for those who will attend the Globis-B workshop, letting them know that by the time of the meeting they will have the Feb post-review one.
I´ll ask the FAO and Siena managers of iMarine (BlueBridge) VRE e-infrastructure about their schedule of meetings in January-February in order to see if they need the current version or they can wait until February.
    Take care

    Dear Gail, all;
    Thanks for this.
To the point, is it okay for us, as individual professionals, to present on legal interoperability issues and research data to groups outside of RDA?
My view is that it is positively encouraged: I think it is a good thing ito talk about this work, to flag the forthcoming report and to discuss the challenges.
It’s understood that we are not to individually speak *FOR* RDA Legal Interop
No. But one can speak as a member of the group.
… or to distribute any documents we’ve collaboratively drafted for RDA review.
That would not be appropriate until the document is published in late February.
Any particular policy or guidelines to consider? Boundaries to observe?
My via is that one can discuss the document short of distributing it until the publication date.
    Any other views?
    With very best wishes,
    Simon.

Many thanks for considering – Adhering to the highest professional and ethical standards is of chief concern, so any thoughts you all might share would be very helpful!
