    Dear all,
Unfortunately I will not be able to make for our call today as I have to
    travel to unforeseen family event.
I had very little time to work on the guidelines for section 4. but attach
my current version nevertheless at least to reflect some the thinks we
agreed on during our teleconference 2 weeks ago.
    Regards,

    [rda-repoplatforms-ig] New RDC…
I meant to respond on this earlier to a comment from Herman Stehouwer about
    definitions.
The Australian National Data Service defines research data as “any data that
might be useful to researchers”. This is a deliberately broad definition,
and was not done as a cop-out 😉
The rationale is that researchers need access not just to data produced by
them (and other researchers) but also (depending on the research task) to
data held by galleries, archives, museums, as well as data managed for
operational purposes by government departments at all levels. ANDS has
examples of all of these, and usecases for how they are applied.
So, I would argue for a more inclusive definition rather than a narrow one.

    Greetings all,
The below thread from RDA Pub Workflows indicates that movement is afoot to
coordinate and harmonize CASRAI and RDA vocabularies. Relief! But the
outcome may not come soon enough to provide clarity for the purposes of our
    Principles document and Implementation Guidelines.
What to do? My preference (in the spirit of moving us forward) would be to
have our esteemed co-chairs select the definition of research data for our
working purposes. At least this gives us a decision so we can get back to
    document tuning!
    Best regards,
    Gail

Please find below links relevant to RDC-CASRAI’s new trans-disciplinary
Glossary for research data management. I apologize in advance for any
cross-posting. These links were previously sent to

RDA vs RDC-CASRAI glossaries (Contains links to both glossaries)
We are opening a discussion with the RDA folks on the respective aims of the
RDA and RDC glossaries: whether or not they serve the same purposes, whether
or not they are directed at the same audiences, overlap, divergences,
alignment, complementarity, etc. Please engage in this discussion by
