Colleagues,
The 3 co-chairs of the RDA NDS IG (me, Adrian Burton, Christine Kirkpatrick) met yesterday and discussed an agenda for our next meeting in Berlin in March. I’m attaching a link to the draft of the submission I will need to submit by Dec 28. Please let me know by Dec 15 if you have any suggestions for changes, or would like to be added to either the “Updates” or “Discovery Platforms” items. You can also add your edits/comments to the Google Document directly. The first one is our regular update on National Data Services from specific country contexts, and the second one is a new one we are suggesting to focus on specific categories of national platforms.

Hi,
this is my first interaction with this group.
I’m working in a project to evaluate the feasibility of deploying a NDS in Brazil (which includes creating a business plan, service model, governance model etc…)
Maybe there will be attendees from countries like mine where there is no NDS in place yet.
I’m wondering if a pannel or a talk targeting this kind of audience could be included in the agenda.

Nice to meet you virtually. I think you will find the session we’re proposing, as did ones that came before, works well for those in your situation. We have a wide range of NDS activities and funding within the group, so you will not be alone in mapping out, costing and trying to fund an NDS. We have a set of country reports that maps the divergent landscape. It is almost final and not yet on the RDA website. Dear Christine,
thanks for pointing me out to that document.
The individual reports will be very useful to me.
It looks to me that this kind of report may evolve to a NDS compendium in the future.
I would like to suggest other items to be mapped in the report, in a next version:
1) Do your NDS provide own infrastructure or it orchestrates existing infrastructures from other partners?
2) In case of own infrastructure, how it is with respect to storage capacity, Internet connectivity, processing power etc.
3) Size of personal staff allocated in the NDS
For sure I will be in Berlin doing questions like that 🙂
