The following is an invitation to participate in a survey identifying needs
related to the digital management of physical samples and sample
collections. This survey is being conducted by the IGSN 2040 team as part
of a grant from the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation.
We are interested in a wide range of physical samples produced by various
disciplines, including but not limited to earth, environmental, life,
    material sciences, archaeology, and medical.
We hope to engage researchers across disciplines, and across the globe
    to provide
information to be used for the development of services, tools, and
documentation related to the management of samples. In particular, we are
interested in the use (or potential use) of unique identifiers, such as
IGSNs (http://www.igsn.org/) to manage samples. IGSN is an alphanumeric
code that uniquely identifies samples and related sampling features. You do
not need to be familiar with IGSNs to complete this survey.
The survey can be found at this link:
    http://lsu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_difqy8zrTdBMFI9
The survey should take about 15 minutes to complete. Please complete the
survey no later than March 28th.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact Sarah Ramdeen at
    ***@***.***
Thank you in advance for your participation from the IGSN 2040 team: Jens
Klump, Kerstin Lehnert, Lesley Wyborn, and Sarah Ramdeen.
