Data Type Registries WG & #2

Group details

Chair (s):
Secretariat Liaison:
Yolanda Meleco
TAB Liaison:
Francoise Genova
Case Statement:
WGs Wrapping up (from ~12 months after RDA endorsement)

The DTR2 group is currently following up on the work of the DTR group using this space as there is a demand for revisions based on the initial adoption experiences.

The Data Type Registries Working Group will compile a set of use cases for data type use and management. It will identify and distinguish among existing ‘type registry’ efforts and their potential interaction with this group  and formulate a data model and expression for types. It will also design a functional specification for type registries and propose a federation strategy among multiple type registries at both the technical and organizational levels.

Discussion document for DTR Breakout at P11

Attached is an updated version of the 'informal spec' document on Types and Type Registries that Giridhar sent around last fall for comment. I propose that we use this document to support discussion at the Breakout on Thursday (Session #6).

There will be a brief update on ISO interest in this topic at the Thursday Plenary session on Recommendations and Outputs.

Fwd: Form submission from: 11th Plenary Group Session Application Form

See below for the proposed agenda for a single breakout session at P11 for DTR2, submitted as a session request a few minutes ago. This is quite flexible and comments are welcome on the details. We are coming to the end of this group and need to discuss future RDA activities, if any, in this area. There has been a fair amount of uptake of the concepts, but more work is needed on standardization and best practices.
Thanks and I hope to see many of you in Berlin in March.

Informal spec on Types and Type Registries - soliciting comments

Hi All,

Thanks for attending the call held on Oct 9, 2017. And specifically for sharing your views on the technical direction question I raised. I have uploaded to this site a specification of sorts for types and type registries. Here's a link to that document:

Informal spec on Types and Type Registries - soliciting comments

The document is informal in nature and also has a few gaps to be filled. We will formalize the document in the next few weeks.

New URL and reminder for today's DTR call

We have GoToMeeting session on part of the topic we did not get to cover in Montreal - whither the ISO group, followed by Next Steps in general if we have time. The call is in a little less than 90 minutes from now (14:00 UTC). We are scheduled for one hour.

I tried the connection this morning to make sure I knew what I was doing, not realizing that this apparently changes the meeting specific link. The new one appears below. Apologies for any confusion.

Those of you joining the call on October 9th may wish to review these, especially the final talk by Giridhar, which was to precede the discussion that we didn't get to in Montreal, part of which we will now try to cover in the upcoming call.
