Short introduction describing the scope of the group and if any previous activities 
Research data policies of journals and funding agencies are growing in number and these policies can increase the prevalence and practice of data sharing. However the data policy landscape of funders, institutions and publishers is too complex and lacking standards, which can actually impede data sharing. Journal editors and publishers are paying more attention to data sharing policies, for example, Springer Nature developed a standardised research data policy framework for its journals with four standard policy types, each with a defined set of requirements, which have been adopted by approximately 1600 journals. We anticipate there being common elements of research data policy shared between all stakeholders (funders, institutions, repositories, publishers, scholarly societies), such as support for data repositories and data citation.
As well as the text of data policy documents, the group also aims to produce practical implementation guidance for editors, publishers researchers and institutions; to increase adoption of standardised data policies; and to facilitate greater understanding of the landscape of research data policies across disciplines, institutions and learned societies.

Meeting objectives 
This is a preliminary session abstract. The co-chairs will present and seek feedback on the revised version of our Journal and publisher research data policy master framework. This is the first, key output from this IG, which was presented in draft form at RDA P11 in Berlin following public consultation on the draft (available at https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Z4VWeQ8hMBWOpdky-Ec7GercM-4_cSDKa8gE…).
This draft framework is intended to help Journal Editors to navigate the creation or enhancement of a data availability policy. It reflects international efforts by the Research Data Alliance Data Policy Standardisation and Implementation Interest Group to identify the key elements of a good data availability policy and to standardise data policies.

Target Audience
All stakeholders including funding agencies are welcome although journal publishers, research support staff, researchers and representatives of research data repositories and other scholarly infrastructure providers are particularly encouraged to attend this meeting. Implementation and adoption of journal data policies will be discussed.
