Brokering – Implications for data citation

The Working Group on Data Citation (WGDC) has issued a set of recommendations on citing evolving data. These have important implcations for a brokering, such as:

the metadata record for a brokered data set needs to carry along, and supplement if necessary, the recommended attributes related to versioning, timestamping and persistent identifiers for the query that returned the dataset
if the broker itself modifies the data in any way by reprojecting or reformatting then the broker should generate additional metadata that would enable a user to get exactly the same result from the broker in the future

It would be good if the Brokering IG began a discussion on this topic.
