Fellow Data Fitness for Use WG members,
We’re happy to pass along that our RDA 12 session proposal
was accepted! We will be present in Gaborone Botswana in a few short months
and hope to see some of you there.
Concurrent with RDA12 in November our working group will be wrapping up its
efforts and submitting its many outputs for public comment and use.
One of these outputs will be our Data Fitness for Use Checklist Tool
.
As stated in the header of the tool, it is intended “[f]or use by
repository managers or a similar external entity to evaluate the data
holdings of repository for fitness for use. Answer these questions for a
sample (~6 to ~12) of datasets in that repository. This checklist is meant
to supplement the CoreTrustSeal Repository Certification
process.”
Further context is provided within the header. Note that though this
checklist is manual at this time, we would expect that portions of this
tool could be automated in the future.

by Friday September 21. *
After we receive your comment and revise accordingly, we anticipate having
the checklist field testing by several CoreTrustSeal certified repositories
and expect to present a short summary of the test results in Gaborone.
