3 DFIG items and one action

    Dear DFIG colleagues,
some of us in DFIG were active and it is now time to present 3 items to you. Please do NOT respond per email, but use the DFIG pages to comment. We will update the pages during the coming days.
    1. We were also asked by the European Commission to come up with recommendations of what should be done next. Since there is no such statement from RDA Global or RDA Europe we asked a bunch of people to contribute and to support a joint paper. Much of this comes from the realm of discussions in the Data Fabric IG, but we are sure that there is more to say. We will include the document also on the DFIG pages under recommendations so that everyone can support the document or comment/criticise its content. EC colleagues were rather happy that we delivered come clear statements, but the discussions will continue.
You can find this document here: https://hdl.handle.net/11304/a3d012ca-4e23-425e-9e2a-1e6a195b966f
    2. We had the first interaction of the GEDE focus are group on PID issues and there are notes which will be shared. We would like to open a PID focus area group within DFIG to continue these discussions also at global level. We will not setup a special email-list but continue the sub-section on the DFIG recommendation/guidelines page. The current version of the notes and the preparation document are attached.
    3. A number of us started to collect ideas and comments around Global Digital Object Cloud and Type-Triggered Automatic Processing. It is currently in form of a set of slides (to be short and include graphics) which are not meant for presentation. A special interest is also to see where and how brokering can/will play a role. We will also put things now on the DFIG pages so that everyone in DFIG can comment. The goal is still – as discussed in Denver – to write a new White Paper or so, since the first one of DFIG is outdated. Everyone who contributes should be on the list of “contributors”.
As indicated: Do NOT respond to this email, but use the online web page to comment. During the coming days we will update the DFIG pages.

Dear RDA group chairs, TAB and Sec members,
within shortest time frame we had to prepare two documents to the European Commission which might be of general interest for you.
    – We were asked to do a self-assessment of RDA Europe in particular with a focus on how well we established interactions with research communities. Within roughly 2 months we tried to come up with a comprehensive document which was also good for us as a kind of basis what we achieved and what not.
You can find it here: https://hdl.handle.net/11304/1a8646fd-f6ed-4a16-863b-f7768872cbb6
    – We were also asked to come up with recommendations of what should be done next. Since there is no such statement from RDA Global or RDA Europe we asked a bunch of people to contribute and to support a joint paper. Much of this comes from the realm of discussions in the Data Fabric IG, but we are sure that there is more to say. We will offer it under DFIG recommendation so that everyone can make comments.

Some in the realm of DFIG worked on some ideas around Global Digital Object Cloud which will be updated at the DFIG pages.
We also had a review of the RDA Europe project by 2 experienced external people. We will see how we can summarise the comments to also make it available to everyone.
