    Goals

    1. Map search improvements to metadata requirements and document the value of enriched metadata for improving search
      • What are the basic metadata elements that everyone has? Is there a basic set that everyone *should* have but doesn’t?
    2. Inventory existing standards/schema that might provide the metadata requirements identified in 1.
    3. Identify candidate vocabularies, metadata repositories, ontologies

    Next Steps

    1. Everyone should review the recommendations from other Data Discovery Paradigms task forces;
      • Relevancy Ranking
      • Use Cases, Prototyping Tools and Test Collections
      • Best Practices
    2. Determine appropriate scope of search (e.g., limit scope to search as part of research workflow)
          i. Do we need to consider different types of users? Do we have a particular target audience?
          ii. Should scope include all types of search avenues? (Google, specific DAAC search tools, other?)
          iii. Create a set of personas (work with the use case spreadsheet, which includes categories of users that can be refined
