Summary:

When there are more and more data open and available through data repositories, it becomes ever more challenging for researchers to find relevant data. This paper presents a work that addresses this data findability problem. By gathering and analysing use cases, we identify a core set of functional requirements for a data repository. We propose ten recommendations with exemplar implementations to meet the requirements. This work contributes to the improvement of data repositories by enabling effective data discovery. This paper is aimed at developers, project and product managers of data repositories, and researchers who are involved in developing data repositories, community platforms, or interfaces to data collections. It focuses on enabling and improving the methods and tools by which users find data in these repositories.
