I'm addressing this message to those in the IGAD group who work with weather data (and, by any chance, with weather data used in farm management services?).
We're doing a survey of weather data standards and we would need some help with the exercise of:
* Identifying the core and closely related domains (meteorology, climatology, geography, environment?, earth sciences?, oceanography?) and the relevant data(set) types (weather historical data, weather forecasts, climate data, weather stations / instrumentations, geospatial data, soil profiles) for those who work with weather data
* Identifying existing data standards for those domains and data types (we already started, but we need feedback from experts)
* Assessing these data standards according to their authoritativeness, level of adoption, ease of use...
* Identifying areas where standardization is less advanced and needed
Unfortunately the only thing we can offer in return is acknowledgement, both in reports and in the online map of data standards where these results will be made available: http://vest.agrisemantics.org/content/credits.
This map of standards is also in some way relevant to the work of the Agrisemantics WG.
Thank you to anyone who can provide even minimum input.
