I am currently a fourth-year PhD student at the University of British Columbia (UBC) in British Columbia (BC), Canada enrolled in Educational Studies with a focus on Indigenous Education. I am a member of Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) and am a descendent of the Haíɫzaqv (Heiltsuk) and Tlingit peoples of the West Coast of BC. Prior to enrolling in a PhD program at UBC, I was a senior/research analyst in Institutional Research in a local university for 15 years. During that time, I was also elected as the Vice President in the Pacific Northwest Association for Institutional Researchers and Planners (PNAIRP) in a three-year term (Vice President, President, Past President) and Vice Chair and Chair of the British Columbia Institutional Researchers and Planners Group (BCIRP). Within my institution I also developed and chaired a data management committee until I resigned to pursue my PhD. Further, I worked on provincial projects and agency contracts as a consultant and am currently working for my supervisor on qualitative and interpretive research projects so research and methodology of many kinds are of great interest to me. My master’s was in Measurement, Evaluation, and Research Methodology (MERM) from UBC and my undergrad degree in Sociology and International and Development Studies. I am particularly interested in Indigenous data sovereignty initiatives, Indigenous statistics, big data, and educational and research epistemologies. I also currently run my own small educational research company.
