Miguel Saravia is an information and knowledge management specialist with over 20 years of experience in sustainable development in Latin America specifically on sustainable mountain development, rural development, natural resources management, appropriate technology, disaster preparedness and human rights. Mr Saravia has cultivated a large experience in the leadership of multidisciplinary teams located in different countries and cultural environments. He has managed several projects, research networks, regional programs and organizations, with several donors and international partner organizations. During his professional career, has taught Information Technology at the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (PUCP) and was a member of the Board of the Peruvian Scientific Network; member of the Steering Committee of the Mountain Partnership; Chair of the Board of the Regional Project Paramo Andino and of the Regional Association of Mountain Agriculture (ASOCAM, Ecuador). He was also member of the Network of Social Studies on Disaster Prevention in Latin America (La Red); Regional Coordinator of the Challenge Programme on Water and Food (CPWF); Executive Director of the Consortium for the Sustainable Development of the Andean Ecoregion; Coordinator of the Mountain Forum Global Node; Member of the Board of the International Mountain Society (IMS, Switzerland); member of the Board of the Permanent Seminar on Agrarian Research (SEPIA, Peru) and one of the spokespersons of the PeruCOP20 Civil Society Group. Currently, Mr Saravia is the Director of Knowledge Management at the Universidad Peruana de Ciencias Aplicadas (UPC) and President of the Seminario Permanente de Investigación Agraria (SEPIA).
