I am a PhD candidate at Syracuse University's School of Information Studies (iSchool). My research concerns the impact of social computing systems in organizations. With the pervasiveness of computer mediated and tools, individuals can collaborate and coordinate activities beyond their desktop. Applications of social computing systems are exemplified in cases of citizen science, free/libre open source software development projects and many others. My research focus assesses the impact of social computing tools in the area of health care. My work contributes to studies of IT impact, systems design, and social implications of increasing collaboration made possible on the web.
