Allison Thomson

I am a scientist focused on agriculture and climate change - collaborating with stakeholders to develop science-based solutions that help farmers and ranchers mitigate climate change impacts and adapt to a changing environment. My work builds on extensive experience in climate change research and modeling, with a focus on climate impacts on agriculture and the mitigation opportunities available from land systems. Previously, I worked on the development of environmental metrics for farmer and supply chain assessments of sustainable production, with a focus on reducing the environmental impact of US commodity crop production. I have served as an advisor, author and steering group member for a variety of scientific organizations including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the United States Global Change Research Program and the Global Land Programme, and have contributed to over 70 peer-reviewed publication.
