Expanding intellectual horizons and mentoring professional values through continuous learning and practices in the field of Library and Information Science... He has been serving the Library, Documentation & Information Science Division of Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Kolkata for more than Fifteen years. He is also involved in teaching, training, and research that includes Digital scholarship, Metadata engineering, Research-data management, and Scientometrics. His current work is focused on data-related activities for developing open-data infrastructure to ensure persistent access to research datasets from the developing country's perspective. Jiban is passionate to build the capacities of R&D organizations for curation and sharing/reuse of research-data with the ultimate goal of elevating how research data is managed and valued. He is a recipient of the prestigious InfoShare Award of the ASIS&T (USA) for 2015. He was committed to the DataBib project of Purdue and Penn State Universities, USA (2012-2015), and currently a Member of the Board of Editors of re3data (an open-data initiative of the German Research Foundation. He served as an honorary Associate Editor of the IASLIC Newsletter (April 2011 to March 2013). He is a life member of the Society for Information Science (SIS), and the International Society for Scientometrics & Informetrics (ISSI). He has many publications in scholarly journals to his credit.
