I am a Uruguayan biologist studying a PhD in Life Sciences in the Evolution and Ecology group of the University of Lincoln (United Kingdom). During my academic development I have been naturally interested and passionate about several areas, from genetics, genomics and bioinformatics, to environmental education and citizen participation, and also the management of private and public conservation areas. My academic training and my personal interests in these fields have led me to develop an ambition for research that nourishes from those interests, while providing a benefits for my country of origin, where the implemented systems for biodiversity monitoring are still in early condition. The focus of my research is to quantify patterns and processes of biodiversity and I aim to develop an unprecedented field of knowledge for Uruguay by promoting a large, multidisciplinary collaborative initiative to collect all biodiversity data for Uruguay.
