Miloš Drdácký has been for almost 20 years Director of the Institute of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics of the Czech Republic and Professor of Theory of Structures at the Czech Technical University in Prague. His research interests include experimental mechanics, testing of materials and in recent years interdisciplinary research into problems of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage materials, structures and sites. He founded in the CR an information system for analysis of structural failures and developed conservation and heritage science research. He directed tens of international as well as tens of national grant and research projects. His research results include hundreds of journal papers, books and chapters in books, research reports. He is member of Editorial boards of international scientific journals, member of several professional organizations and scientific committees. He was awarded several prizes in a team (Europa Nostra) or individually, e.g. doctor honoris causa of the technical university in Sofia (Bulgaria).
