I am a research technologist at the Institute of Agro-environmental and Forest Biology of the National Research Council of Italy since December 2013. I worked in the ecology-unit of the University of Salento from April 2005 to November 2013 and to date I collaborate with the ecology-unit for different projects. I obtained my Ph.D. in Fundamental Ecology by the University of Salento and I graduated in Biological Sciences at the University of Bologna. I have a background on biodiversity organisation, conservation and management in aquatic ecosystems. Currently, my research focus is on e-biodiversity and, in particular, it concerns the implementation of IT tools for the discovery, integration, and sharing of ecological data using web service and Data Infrastructure. I am responsible, as a member of the LifeWatch-ITA’s Interactions Thematic Centre, of the development of thesauri and ontologies for standardisation and integration of data related to functionals traits and ecological niche dimensions.
