Dear RDA Plenary 11 participants,
On behalf of the Secretariat, thank you for joining us this past week for Plenary 11 in Berlin, Germany. With 661 participants, we are thrilled with the amount of enthusiasm and collaboration that took place throughout the meeting.
We’re sure you are feeling just as we are at the moment - a bit overwhelmed, a bit exhausted (maybe more than a bit) and a lot of excitement about what is to come in the future weeks and months. So, with the goal of helping you regroup and prioritize your next RDA-related activities, we developed the following list of suggestions for you to hopefully include in your to-do list for this week:
- Complete the P11 plenary evaluation form at https://rd-alliance.org/rda-plenary-11-evaluation.
- Share your overall feedback of Plenary 11
Provide your insights on P11 by submitting a blog post on the RDA website.
Adopt a Recommendation.
With so many of RDA’s Recommendations fresh in your minds, now is the time to begin adopting them and/or sharing them with colleagues who may also have an interest. For easy reference, the presentations delivered during last week’s Adoption Session are available linked from the Plenary programme page (refer to individual breakout session pages for additional information).
Join a group or initiate a group.
Now that you received an inside preview on the activities happening within so many of our groups, join one – all members are welcome regardless of the group’s current size or stage. If you feel there isn’t a group that fits your vision, initiate a new one
Review and share.
Visit the P11 Programme pages in the upcoming days to access videos, presentations and photos from throughout the week and share them with your colleagues.
Vote for the new Council Slate.
If you haven’t done so already, please vote for the new Council slate.
Continue your great work at RDA through the working and interest groups, follow and interact with us on Twitter and LinkedIn, and spread the word to those in your networks about the benefits of being an RDA member.
- Upload your session materials, slides and other content onto your session pages so that others can view the outcomes of your meeting.
International Data Week 2018 (IDW2018) combines the 12th RDA Plenary Meeting and the SciDataCon2018 conference and takes place 5-8 November 2018 in Gaborone, Botswana.
The RDA Call for Sessions will be opening in May 2018.
In the meantime, to make the most of your participation at IDW2018, check out the SciDataCon2018 approved sessions. Abstracts can be submitted to Approved Sessions or to General Submissions (if you do not find a topic of interest in the approved sessions) and will be peer reviewed and distributed into the programme. The deadline for submissions is 30 April.
We are very grateful to all those who supported the meeting to make it a huge success. Our local hosts – Helmholtz and GFZ – the Helmholtz Centre Potsdam - and the RDA Europe project. Our supporters: the German Federal Ministry of Research and Education and Geo X. Last but certainly not least our sponsors: Copernicus Publications, DAASI International, DFG, Elsevier, German Data Forum, Leibniz Association, Oracle and Springer Nature. A special thanks to you the community members for applying for sessions, managing them, travelling to Berlin and working diligently and extremely hard to make RDA the vibrant, passionate and productive community it is today.
Again, thank you for your participation last week and we genuinely look forward to seeing you all again at Plenary 12 in Gaborone, Botswana.
Yolanda Meleco on behalf of the RDA Secretariat
