    Johns Hopkins Sheridan Libraries in Baltimore Maryland seeks a Data Management Consultant to join our high-performing team of data management, data visualization, and geospatial data/GIS specialists in the Data Services Department. Our mission is to provide tools, training, and resources for working with data to Johns Hopkin University’s world-renowned researchers, with the overarching goal of improving the availability and reusability of research data generated by researchers across the University and from various disciplines. The data management specialists provide faculty, students, and staff with consultative support and training on data management and sharing. They prepare and lead workshops, give presentations, and provide one-on-one consultation to faculty, staff, and students. Data management specialists are also responsible for curating and depositing data into the Johns Hopkins Research Data Repository. As researchers are increasingly expected to share and make their data reproducible, the data management specialist must stay abreast of best practices for data sharing and curation and is expected to participate in setting the strategic direction for data management at Johns Hopkins, develop new services to assist researchers, and work to constantly improve the quality of services provided. This is a fully remote work position. Some travel is required.
    Specific Duties & Responsibilities

    Provide consultative support to researchers’ data planning needs in light of granting agency or publisher requirements, including assessing options for preserving and sharing data and editing data management plans.
    Track specific scientific and subject domain areas building knowledge and expertise in data types, standards, metadata, documentation, data repositories, and best practices for data management and sharing throughout the research lifecycle.
    Develop and deliver data management and sharing training programs, including presentations, training materials, and resources.
    Proactively collaborate and coordinate with researchers to curate and deposit data into the Johns Hopkins Research Data Repository.
    Continuously collaborate across Johns Hopkins University on promoting data management and sharing services with faculty, students, librarians, and research administration.

    Special Skills, Knowledge, & Abilities

    Significant experience with one or more components of the research data life cycle: creation, processing, analyzing, preserving, providing access, and reusing.
    Strong understanding of research data collection, statistics, and experimental evidence
    Clear and consistent communicator, with strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to create and deliver training sessions and presentations.
    Good listener with a high degree of customer orientation
    Strong project planning, management, and execution skills
    Demonstrated ability to work with and easily adapt to new technology.
    Must be a highly self-directed worker, who is proactive, willing to take on new challenges, and solve problems with minimal supervision.
    Superb people skills, strong team orientation, and professional attitude.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Bachelor’s Degree.
    Three (3) years of related experience.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Experience working with scientific or health sciences data management and/or data curation and archiving.
    Experience conducting trainings and workshop presentations.
    Experience with standard packages or statistical languages for working with data, such as R, SPSS, STATA, MATLAB, Python, databases, etc.
    Knowledge of platforms for collaborative and reproducible research
    Experience working with large data sets and/or high-performance computing.
    Knowledge of methods and best practices for the curation of software and research code
