RDA/U.S. Chair Selected as AAAS Fellow

RDA is pleased to announce Dr. Francine Berman, RDA/U.S. Chair, was selected as a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the world’s largest general scientific society and the publisher of Science and other scholarly journals.

AAAS recognized Dr. Berman for her “distinguished contributions to the field of computer science and community leadership in data cyberinfrastructure, digital data preservation, and high performance computing.”

Election as a Fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers. New Fellows will be welcomed in a ceremony at the AAAS annual meeting in February.

In addition to her role as RDA/US Chair, Dr. Berman is also the Edward P. Hamilton Distinguished Professor of Computer Science at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, co-chair of the Advisory Committee for the Computer and Information Science and Engineering Directorate of the National Science Foundation, and fellow of the Association of Computing Machinery and IEEE.
