Meeting title: Adapting and Adopting RDA Outputs in Domain Sciences
Groups: IG Domain Repositories, IG Marine Data Harmonization, WG Research Data Collections
Cyndy Chandler (Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution) "Adoption of Data Citation WG Recommendations by the Biological and Chemical Oceanography Data Management Office"
Justin Buck (British Oceanographic Data Centre) "Citing dynamic data; A single DOI for Argo, a step towards RDA recommendations"
Bridget Almas (Tufts University) "RDA and the Alliance of Digital Humanities Organizations"
Michael Witt (Purdue University) "Going Global with 23 Things"
Please give a brief introduction describing the activities and scope of the group(s)
The Domain Repositories IG (DRIG) was created to build upon common interests across scientific domains in data curation, preservation, and repository operations. The DRIG seeks to promote RDA innovations among data repositories and to provide use cases and advice to RDA WGs that will benefit domain repositories.
This session will provide a forum for sharing experiences implementing standards, products, and recommendations from RDA WGs in repositories. A number of disciplines are directly interacting with RDA WGs to solve problems faced by repositories. We will discuss the process of integrating RDA outputs into ongoing operations and the broader issue of demonstrating the value of these developments to domain scientists.
Please provide additional links to informative material related to the participating groups i.e. group pages, case statements, working documents etc
Please list the meeting objectives
Identify expected benefits from implementing RDA outputs on repository workflows and operations
Describe the implementation process
Identify stakeholders involved in implementing change
Discuss impacts achieved by adopting RDA outputs
10-20 minute presentations in which representatives of domain repositories describe their experiences.
Audience: Please specify who is your target audience and how they should prepare for the meeting
The primary audience for this session will be data repositories, including both domain and institutional repositories, but the discussion will help all RDA WGs to develop adoption and sustainability plans.
