Meeting title Joint Meeting of IG Digital Practices in History and Ethnography and WG Empirical Humanities Metadata

Group chair serving as contact person: Mike Fortun

Please give a brief introduction describing the activities and scope of the group(s)

The IG Digital Practices in History and Ethnography works to advance data standards, practices and infrastructure for historical and ethnographic research, contributing to broader efforts in the digital humanities and social sciences.
We seek to advance development of digital infrastructure for historical and ethnographic research through engagement with concrete scholarly practice and projects, and to advance conceptualization of the special characteristics and digital potential of humanities and qualitative social science data.
The WG Empirical Humanities Metadata is conducting research, developing a statement of best practices, and releasing an adoptable product centered on what needs to be in place (standards, protocols, policies, cultural expectations) to make ethnographic and historical data archivable, discoverable, and shareable. The empirical humanities include history, folklore, cultural anthropology, and other fields in which researchers actively generate new primary data of different types (documents, audiovisual recordings, material artefacts, etc.) that can be used for cultural analysis.

Please provide additional links to informative material related to the participating groups i.e. group pages, case statements, working documents etc
