    Dear Exposing DMP WG members
Happy Easter all. A quick message to let you know the slides from our first Working Group session at Plenary-11 are on the RDA site in our WG folder, here:
    https://rd-alliance.org/plenary-11-session
I think its safe to say the organisers underestimated the interest in our session, as some people couldn’t get into the packed room! Alongside the interesting and useful scene-setting lightning talks, from a variety of stakeholder points of view, we shared an analysis of use cases and prioritised these with the aid of some interactive polling. The results of that are in the folder too.
The discussion gave us some useful parameters. Starting from the DMP Common Standards group’s consultation to identify user stories for machine-actionable DMPs, we added some further requirements, then grouped these into use case categories based on prior work in this area. Then we asked everyone to apportion an imaginary 100 days effort to each. This produced a clear first choice. 33% of the ‘effort’ was targeted towards integration use cases, and 17% towards evaluation. Another 6 headings got around 10% each. In the folder you can find more details of the results and what these headings referred to.
By the way, our warm-up question for the interactive polling was to ask everyone whether they had attended a previous DMP related session. There were 39% had attended an Active DMP session at one of the previous plenaries. The same number had attended a DMP Common Standards WG session (including the one the previous day). Perhaps surprisingly, 42% said that our Exposing DMP session was their first, so we were pleased to draw in some fresh blood into DMP-related activity in RDA.
And long may that continue… We’ll be in touch again soon with dates for the next WG call.
    Best wishes,
Angus, Fiona, Christine, Kathryn and Natalie
