Dear IG ETHRD Members and All,
The workshop agenda will be built around discussion of the the received
comments and the required updates to the four EDSF documents and content
of the new documents (what is a subject of volunteer editors):

FOSTER’s draft Open Science training courses are now open for public consultation.

***Call for public comment***
FOSTER Plus (Fostering the practical implementation of Open Science in Horizon 2020 and beyond) is a 2-year, EU-funded project, carried out by 11 partners across 6 countries. The primary aim is to contribute to a real and lasting shift in the behaviour of European researchers to ensure that Open Science (OS) becomes the norm. To this end, a key objective for the FOSTER project has been to develop a set of ten training courses targeted towards early career researchers.

This is to announce the EDSF (EDISON Data Science Framework) design
workshop will take place on 18-19 July 2018 at UvA, Science Park 904
Amsterdam
The workshop will start at 11:00 on the first day and finish 17:00
second day.
The exact agenda and co-organising parties will be announced next week.
The following timeline for the EDSF Release 3 is set to allow wider

Contribution and Sponsorship EDSF Release 3 and Design workshop mid July 2018 (UvA, Amsterdam)

Dear IG ETHRD Members,
During the last IG ETHRD meeting at RDA11 I made update on the
after-EDISON activities to maintain and update the EDISON Data Science
Framework (EDSF, https://github.com/EDISONcommunity/EDSF/wiki/EDSFhome)
that is carried out by a group of volunteers and supported by UvA under
umbrella of the EDISON Initiative.
I also mentioned that we are planning to update the EDSF and publish the
next Release 3 that would incorporate almost a year of experience in

Maturity and Resourcing Survey for Digital Preservation

The Digital Preservation Oxford and Cambridge (DPOC) project in collaboration with the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC) has developed a short survey intended to gather information from collecting and research organisations around the world who have a remit to manage digital content. The survey has a particular focus on staffing resources, but also briefly covers policy, strategy, and maturity modelling.

New Co-Chair & Plenary planning

Dear RDA ETHRD-IG members,
I am happy to announce the appointment of a new co-chair to the group, Rob
Quick. Rob serves as the manager of the High Throughput Computing at
Indiana University, Research Technologies and has spent much of the last 15
years in providing training to researchers in the access and use of compute
resources. Rob has further demonstrated his interest in education and
training on the handling of research data through his participation as
co-organizer and lecturer in the African School of Fundamental Physics

New WG on Curriculum

Dear members of the Education and Training Interest Group,
Please find in the link the draft Case Statement for a WG Data Supporter Curriculum.
After teaching Essentials 4 Data Support for quit some years now, it is now time for a more structured Curriculum for Data Supporters.
The Case Statement if very preliminary, please feel free to comment on it.
