[CodeMeta] We need you! provide feedback for CodeMeta v3.0 before June 15

by Morane Gruenpeter

Dear all, Apologies for cross-posting. I'm writing to you today to get your feedback on a software metadata matter on the CodeMeta repository . If you haven't heard about the CodeMeta project and vocabulary, CodeMeta is a subset of schema.org classes SoftwareSourceCode and SoftwareApplications, providing additional properties for research software. CodeMeta vocabulary is in a json-ld format and developers can use a codemeta.json file to insert metadata in their repository. This metadata

BibLaTeX support for software (Was: Re: [rda-datacitation-wg] Data Citation - Participate in shaping BibLaTeX)

by Roberto Di Cosmo

[cross-posting this message to other groups that may find this relevant, with some context for them, apologies to the Data Citation WG for repetitions] Dear all, there is an interesting thread in the Data Citation WG about extending the @dataset entry in biblatex, which is just treated as @misc in biblatex today, and falls quite short of fitting the bill [1]. A year ago, we had a similar situation for the @software entry type, which is also just an alias for the @misc entry. Today, the situation has changed a lot,

Software sessions at the PIDapalooza party

by Morane Gruenpeter

Dear RDA, FORCE11 & ReSA communities, I apologize for cross-posting, but I had to share with you the next big event - PIDapalooza! It is usually an informal conference that turns into a wild PID party. This year, due to COVID19, organizers decided to do something even better: **A 24-hours online PID party** If you never been before, this is your time to check it out for free! ---- Note the two excellent software sessions: *1. Intrinsic identifiers at work: what the users have to say*

by Morane Gruenpeter

Dear RDA, FORCE11 & ReSA communities, I apologize for cross-posting. The FAIRsFAIR project's first Milestone about software has been published in October and is now under community review. It has been collaboratively produced by work package 2 task 2.4 - FAIR services & software and had an early experts review by the joint RDA/ReSA/FORCE11 FAIR4RS WG steering committee. Here is the link to the Assessment report on ‘FAIRness of software’ (Gruenpeter et al., 2020)

by Morane Gruenpeter

Dear RDA & FORCE11 communities, I apologize for cross-posting. Software has become a hot subject in the RDA community and there will be 6 different sessions about software or code during the next RDA Plenary (VP16) held next week between November 9 and 12 virtually in Costa Rica. Here are the sessions you should note if you are interested in software: - Software Source Code IG meeting [1] where the Software Code Identification WG output will be presented. - FAIR software roadmap BOF meeting [2]

by Limor Peer

Dear All, A quick reminder that we are seeking your input: We invite you to share your pain-point stories relating to computational reproducibility (i.e., the ability to repeat the analysis and arrive at the same results). Whether you are a researcher, data manager, repository manager, publisher, or otherwise involved in the research enterprise -- we want to hear about your experiences!
