by Paul Uhlir
Dear Colleagues, In preparation for the call tomorrow, I would like to provide the call in logistics and the agenda for the call. I have not resolved the conferencing issue with the RDA website and the WebEx option did not work for everyone in the Oct 21 meeting. Therefore, please call in to a conferencing service (toll-free in the US), Conference America: Dial: +1 888 537 7715 Partcipant Code: 23350459# For participants outside the US, the call is NOT toll free, so please use your Skype or other low-cost international system.2 | Add new comment
Conference call re Legal Principles for Data: Dec 12
by Paul Uhlir
Dear colleagues: We will have our first conference call on developing the draft Legal Principles for Research Data this Friday, Dec. 12, at 10:00 a.m. US Eastern Time. I have uploaded on our RDA website a cleaned up draft that was iterated at the group's Oct 21 meeting in Washington, DC. You can find it by clicking on the "Group Wiki" button on the Legal Interoperability IG home page, and then on the "Legal Principles for Data" link in the middle of the page.0 | Add new comment

It will be held at 10:00 ET on Dec. 12 instead. Instructions on participating will be sent early next week. Best wishes, Paul1 | Add new comment
Participation in DFT-IG at RDA P5 next March
by Paul Uhlir
Hi all: Attached is a draft prospectus of a proposed RDA terminology group (the DFT-IG). At the Oct 21 workshop of the Legal Interoperability IG we had some discussion of developing a vocabulary set dealing with legal terms pertinent to data, or at least pointing to a good lexicon developed by others. There is no reason to create a separate WG or activity on legal terminology, however, if an umbrella IG is being created.0 | Add new comment
October 21 meeting on draft Principles
by Paul Uhlir
Dear Colleagues, I have received substantial interest in participating in at least parts of the Oct 21 meeting remotely by WebEx. I therefore have made arrangements to set up such a possibility and we welcome your involvement. Below are the instructions for participation through WebEx.0 | Add new comment

Updated Case Study instructions for the RDA-CODATA Interest Group on Legal Interoperability of Research Data and list of milestones
by Paul Uhlir
Dear colleagues: I'm sure you have been very busy updating and completing your Case Studies on the Legal Interoperability of Research Data ;-) If not, please make sure to complete the full (<10 p.) draft no later than Monday, September 8. The idea is to distribute all of them to the IG members and have only a "meta" discussion, rather than another separate discussion of each one. We will have one breakout session on the Case Studies and one on the Principles at the P4 meeting in Amsterdam at the end of September. The times of the breakout sessions have not been set yet.1 | Add new comment
Backgrouind docs for tomorrow's RDA-CODATA IG on Legal Interop breakout meetings
by Paul Uhlir
Hi all: Attached are the introductory slides and final agenda of the IG breakout sessions tomorrow. The discussions may well redirect and certainly fine tune what we plan to do, so I hope you will be able to participate in at least one of the sessions that begin at 11:00. I also am forwarding the slides for the CReATIVE-B case study, since the RDA website does not accept pptx docs. Finally, if you only receive this message once it means you have still not registered to the IG listserv. Please do so this week. Cheers, Paul0 | Add new comment

Re: [RDA-CODATA-cwg-LegalInterop] [rda-legalinterop-ig][rda-outputs-ip] Appropriate licenses or waivers for RDA oputput?
by Mark Parsons
Good point, Catherine. It should be all work in WGs, IGs, and probably TFs. There are some administrative groups within the RDA web space, including TAB and Council, that may not be fully public—e.g. frank internal discussion during case statement reviews. Could I ask you to post your comment publicly on the RFC? https://rd-alliance.org/request-comment-draft-rda-output-and-ip-policy.html Thanks for the careful attention. cheers, -m.0 | Add new comment
