INSPIRE Registry: RDF representation now supported

by Andrea Perego

(Apologies for cross-posting) Dear colleagues, The INSPIRE Registry is a service giving access to INSPIRE semantic assets (e.g., application schemas, meta/data codelists, themes), and assigning to each of them a persistent URI. As such, this service can be considered also as a metadata directory/catalogue for INSPIRE, as well as a registry for the INSPIRE "terminology". Starting from June 2013, when the INSPIRE Registry was first published, a number of version have been released, implementing new

Minimal metadata concept

by Gary Berg-Cross

Does this group can a position on the idea of Minimal Metadata?  The idea was brought up at time in the Data Foundations and Terminology (DT) WG. Some thought that we should define a minimal set such as a name and PID for anything managed as a digital object. Thoughts?

Can we move towards a working definition of metadata

by Gary Berg-Cross

As part of the DFT group I'm wondering of the MIG has any definition(s) of metadata to propose that would be useful for out efforts to define things and your interests.   As context we have had some working defintions a bit of which was disucssed at P3.

Meta-data in the EU MACSUR Knowledge Hub Project

by Richard Kipling

Dear Professor Greenberg, I am currently working at Aberystwyth University, as one of the theme coordinators within the EU MACSUR (Modelling Agriculture with Climate Change for Food Security) knowledge hub project. Central to our work (some details in the following lines) is the sharing of meta-data as a first step towards collaboration, which is why I am contacting you.

Linking Geospatial Data, 5 - 6 March 2014, London

by Andrea Perego

Dear colleagues, First of all, my apologies if you receive this message more than once. I would like to draw your attention on an upcoming workshop on "Linking Geospatial Data", jointly organised by W3C, OGC, the UK Government, and Ordnance Survey: http://www.w3.org/2014/03/lgd/ This event may be of interest not only for geo experts: it's about linking geo data with other data (not necessarily geo). In other words, this concerns also cross-domain interoperability of geo/location information.

New Case Statement from Proposed Data description Repository Interoperability Working Group

by Keith Jeffery

All - Just in case you missed it there is a proposal for a new WG You can find and comment on the case statement here: https://www.rd-alliance.org/data-description-registry-interoperability-d... It is noticeable that the case statement and planned work has considerable overlap with MIG and also MSDWG (Metadata Standards Directory WG).
