Research Data Alliance promotes open access to scientific data
The RDA is a newly formed international body, set up to promote the development of new infrastructures, standards and tools for sharing and mining research outputs.

SAEON Attends Launch of the Research Data Alliance
SAEON, the South African Environmental Observation Network, attended the launch and first plenary of the Research Data Alliance (RDA) in Gothenburg, Sweden on behalf of local stakeholders in Dirisa (the Data-Intensive Research Initiative for South Africa) and the ICSU World Data System.
Agricultural Data Interest Group founded within Research Data Alliance
The Launch of the Reasearch Data Alliance saw the emergence of the ‘Agricultural Data Interest group’, which was founded by members from India, Greece and FAO of the United Nations. The Agricultural Data Interest group will manage all topics related to management and interoperability of data sets which are important for agricultural development and innovation.
Global alliance builds data sharing network
Funders in Australia, the EU and the United States have launched the Research Data Alliance, in a determined effort to enhance science data sharing worldwide. "This revolution offers great new opportunities: for best results, they should not be imposed from outside, but with the ownership and collaboration of the scientific community," said Neelie Kroes, Vice President of the European Commission.
