Research Europe feature: Data alliance eyes financial diversity

The Research Data Alliance, an international initiative to promote and improve the sharing of scientific information, is on the hunt for funding sources that will secure its long-term future.
The project, which began in March 2013, has tapped into the rapidly growing interest in data sharing among academics of all disciplines. Bringing together researchers, technicians and policymakers, the alliance has gained more than 1,500 members from 71 countries and has begun to tackle practical aspects of data management in working groups. These include citation and personal identifiers, data curation and the architecture of suitable infrastructure.

The first Call for Abstracts for Oral Presentations and Sessions at SciDataCon 2014 has now been released http://www.scidatacon2014.org/submissions.  Proposals for Papers and Sessions are invited under the conference theme of Data Sharing and Integration for Global Sustainability and a number of related sub-themes and topics.  Further details are available on the conference website.  The deadline for submissions is 25 May 2014.

RDA communicating and sharing research – RDA Third Plenary Poster session

RDA Plenary 3 will have a poster session dedicated to data initiatives on Thursday 27th and Friday 28th.
The session is designed to allow scientists  to communicate to a wider yet specialised audience developments related to their research,  projects and initiatives. The session is also focused on providing  the working  and interest groups the chance to give an update on their work proceedings, encourage knowledge exchange and new members to join.
