Short introduction describing the scope of the group and if any previous activities

The RDA/WDS Certification of Digital Repositories IG brings together the stakeholders interested in certification of data repositories. Data repositories managers, science publishers, research funders, scientists and experts discuss the issues related to certification within the IG and provide guidance and recommendations to allow the effective implementation of certification of digital repositories on a national, European and global level.

Meeting objectives

Through several presentations on adoption of the CoreTrustSeal (an RDA recommendation developed by WDS and DSA) from representatives of data repositories and groups of data repositories covering different regions and disciplines, the session will aim to achieve the following objectives:

  1. Inform about the progress in implementation of CoreTrustSeal, its adoption by research data repositories and future developments.
  2. Discuss lessons learned, identify common challenges and possible solutions regarding the adoption of the CoreTrustSeal certification by data repositories

Meeting agenda

The session will start with a general overview on the progress to date with implementation of the CoreTrustSeal certification for data repositories (15 min). This introduction will be followed by three presentations (15 min) focussing on practical experience with the CoreTrustSeal data repositories certification: The European Research Infrastructure Consortium CLARIN ERIC in the area of humanities and social sciences, the NASA Earth Science Data and Information System (ESDIS) Project which supports and coordinates 12 NASA Distributed Active Archive Centers (DAACs), and the NIH Immport data sharing facility in the area of immunology and bioinformatics. The remaining time will be used for discussion with the audience.
