Meeting title
Final Principles and Implementation Guidelines for Legal Interoperability of Research Data:
Discussion of Dissemination Strategy and the Next Phase of Activities
Please give a short introduction describing the activities and the scope of the group
The RDA-CODATA Interest Group (IG) on the Legal Interoperability of Research Data has been holding frequent conference calls and meetings over the past two years to produce a set of Principles and Implementation Guidelines in this subject-matter area. It conducted one set of reviews through RDA and CODATA in the January-March 2016 period, and a broader second round of reviews in April-June 2016. The IG will finalize both documents over the summer of 2016 and discuss the dissemination plan and the group's next steps at the RDA Conference in Denver in September. Additional information about this IG's case statement, background documents, and process is available at its RDA home page, URL provided below.

This activity is meant for all members of the RDA community who are interested in legal and policy issues for accessing, reusing, and integrating research data. Stakeholder groups in the research process that have been specifically identified and whose inputs have been solicited include: research funders, science policymakers, university administrators, data center managers, STM publishers, librarians and archivists, and individual researchers themselves. We welcome participants from all these sectors to either join the IG or to comment and participate in the IG's breakout sessions at the RDA conferences.
No particular preparation is necessary, but an interest in the legal and policy dimensions of research data is desirable, as is a reading of the Principles and Implementation Guidelines that are now posted on the IG's website.
