Date & time: Tuesday 1st March - 11:30 - 13:00 - Working Meeting Session 1
Meeting title
Mapping the Chemistry Data Landscape
The newly formed IG Chemistry Research Data (DIG Chemistry) makes its debut at the 7th RDA Plenary in Tokyo, Japan. DIG Chemistry aims to foster diverse professional exchange on issues particular to data originating from the field of chemistry and seed efforts that are adaptable for different application purposes and across disciplines. We recognize the importance of cultivating a sharing culture among researchers working in chemistry related fields by demonstrating potential innovations based on reusable chemical data and supporting best practices in managing these data in the research environment.
* Present the objectives of the IG and engage RDA colleagues with an interest in chemistry data
* Develop a survey to identify needs and opportunities from members, including funding agency requirements internationally, and current collection practices among chemistry publishers, chemical analysis instruments and other existing systems
* Formulate a chemistry research data management and portfolio development seminar
1. Introductions
2. IG overview
3. Show & Tell
4. Survey discussion points
5. Chemistry data management seminar discussion
6. Open discussion
This session is open to any RDA participants with an interest in chemistry research data. Please come prepared to discuss the challenges and opportunities pertaining to chemistry data management in your work sector.
