24 September 2015- Working Meeting Session 6 - 15:30 - 17:00
Joint session of Agriculture Data Interest Group (IGAD) and Wheat Data Interoperability Working Group
“Working Groups in the Context of RDA Agricultural Data: What is next?”
IGAD provides visibility to research and work in Agriculture Data as a platform to liaise and form actively involved groups that would work together to achieve data interoperability. The Wheat Data Interoperability working group is an example of such mediated collaborations. The Wheat Data Interoperability Working Group aims to promote the adoption of common standards, vocabularies and best practices for wheat data management.
It is proposed to hold a joint Session Agricultural Data Interest Group & Wheat Data Interoperability. The WDI group will present a report on their progress and hold discussion to collect some feedback. In addition to this IGAD has initiated preliminary discussions towards bringing expertise in Soil data together to focus on and discuss important issues and possible solutions. A pre-meeting to RDA P6 has been arranged to facilitate such interactions. This session will provide a platform for reporting on the outcomes of the pre-meeting and to help forge future collaboration towards new WGs such as Soil Data WG. The session will include reprots from International initiatives such as GODAN and CIARD.
