Dear colleagues,
We are an international team of central research data management structures and data stewards with different scientific backgrounds. For several years we have been supporting research data management at RWTH Aachen University, Delft University of Technology, Health Data Research UK, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, University of Wyoming, Penn State University and Deutsches Klimarechenzentrum.
Within our working group at the RDA "Discipline-specific Guidance for DMPs" we deal with discipline-specific adaptations of data management plans. This contributes to developing or adapting discipline-specific recommendations for DMPs. Currently we are looking into organizing a joint RDA session during RDA Virtual Plenary 18 with Discipline specific IGs or WGs. We are thinking of inviting ~4 Discipline specific IGs or WGs.
We will soon send out a survey to understand the current state of discipline-specific DMPs and data (and code) management practices among the international research community. During the Joint RDA session, we would like to share the initial results from this survey and have a discussion with discipline specific groups IGs or WGs in parallel breakout groups about the survey results.
Here is the preliminary agenda:
· Introduction and general overview by each group (5 min per group - max 25 min)
· Presentation of the initial results of the online survey (max. 10 min)
· Discussion within Discipline specific groups (parallel breakout groups) (40 min)
o How to address knowledge gaps observed in the survey results (based on the discipline specific experience)?
o How do the survey results reflect disciplinary practice?
o TBD
· Combined discussion about other relevant issues (10 min)
· Summary and next steps of action (5 min.)
Would you be interested in organizing a joint session with us?
Since the RDA session proposal deadline is 6 August, we would like to ask you if you respond latest by 15 July.
We are looking forward to hearing from you.
Best wishes,
Yasemin,
On behalf of the RDA Discipline-specific Guidance for DMPs WG
Kind regards,
Yasemin Türkyilmaz-van der Velden, PhD
