Hello sUAS Data IG members,
I hope everyone has had time to process a wonderful and productive RDA! We
are happy to share our IG P11 debrief and plan for IDW and P12.
*P11 Debrief: *
Our IG was a part of two joint sessions, showcased a poster
on
related work with Thomer et al., and we are looking forward to continuing
these collaborations as we begin to set targets for specific outputs.
– *sUAS Data*: (joint session) Look for our sUAS Data Challenges
summary for comment soon. We had a small but productive session with
valuable perspective and input on documenting sUAS data (example workflows
)
leading up to / during the session from:
– The OceanIds Command and Control (C2) project with data issues
experienced by underwater glider users compared with sUAS users.
– Observational data to information (OD2I): Understanding sUAS
observational data and how environmental information is obtained.
– Research Data Collections: Show exemplary benefits of what the
Collections group could contribute with their Recommendation.
*- **Ethics in Fair Data:* (joint session) Look for future discussion to
summarize challenges and further develop use cases. We contributed a sUAS
perspective and helped to present this working document
.
*IDW and P12 Planning: *
Our IG is planning several collaborative sUAS activities during
International Data Week (IDW) and P12. We are keen to bring together the
sUAS research and the research data communities, especially with African
colleagues. Expect more information soon, but of immediate note:
*SciDataCon abstracts are due April 30th* – everyone is welcome to submit
an abstract – there are a
number of great sessions. Of possible interest, please consider *Session
#214*– *Cross disciplinary drones for good in the developing worl
d*
which
has been merged with *sUAS/RPAS data management challenges and
opportunities
*
Happy to hear back about any of these activities, and we will be scheduling
a IG telecon meeting soon.
Your sUAS Data IG Co-Chairs,
Lindsay Barbieri (Bar) & Jane Wyngaard
