Dear all,
Thank you very much to those who participated in the virtual meeting on Thursday 11 December. In the message below, I first list the agreed actions and timescales and then summarise a few points of discussion covered.
We are very grateful for your support and assistance: please read the actions attentively and use the Doodle poll to help us arrange the next meeting.

SUMMARY OF CALL
The call was very useful from a number of points of view: we discussed some general aspects of the approach and clarified a number of details in the interview format, and the diagram of income streams/cost recovery models. Some participants volunteered to undertake interviews and we discussed some suggestions for additional data centres/repositories to be considered in this work.
I shall not attempt to provide a comprehensive summary but the following points are the most significant.
– Some minor adjustments were suggested to the cost recovery diagram and I shall undertake to make these. However, it should be remembered that this diagram is intended to be a guide rather than a comprehensive depiction of *all* the possible income streams available, or of all their possible permutations. It may be of help for interviews, but interviewees should be asked to consider income streams not in all their complexity but from the perspective of the data centre in receipt of particular forms of income.
– Some adjustments were suggested to the interview format and it was agree that some terms (particularly e.g. ‘collection policy’) needed an explanatory gloss.
– It was agreed that, *assuming we have volunteers to conduct the interviews*, we could extend the number of data centres included to cover a wider variety of models.
– We are using ‘cost recovery’ in a broad sense to cover income streams of various sorts. The greater degree to which we can uncover in interviews what the client is paying for (what costs are being recovered or services provided) the better.
– Similarly, we are using ‘data centre’ in a broad sense as the current list of ‘data centres’ shows.
– We have requested two sessions at the RDA Plenary in San Diego.
