Dear Colleagues,
In preparation for the call tomorrow, I would like to provide the call in logistics and the agenda for the call. I have not resolved the conferencing issue with the RDA website and the WebEx option did not work for everyone in the Oct 21 meeting. Therefore, please call in to a conferencing service (toll-free in the US), Conference America:
Dial: +1 888 537 7715
Partcipant Code: 23350459#
For participants outside the US, the call is NOT toll free, so please use your Skype or other low-cost international system.
In this call, we will have a general discussion of:
1. The methodology to use on the calls and the schedule leading up to the RDA Plenary meeting in mid-March.
2. Other groups that have addressed similar data law issues that need to be brought into the conversation.
3. Your general comments on the title, preamble issues, the Principles themselves, and a subsidiary document of Guidelines that explains the issues behind the Principles.
Please also access the RDA website and fo to the Legal Interoperability Interest Group home page and click on the "Group Wiki" button on the right-hand side. The most recent draft of the Principles document is available there for discussion and your input.
Below is the message I sent to the IG on Monday. I look forward to speaking with you tomorrow.
Paul

Dear colleagues:
We will have our first conference call on developing the draft Legal Principles for Research Data this Friday, Dec. 12, at 10:00 a.m. US Eastern Time. I have uploaded on our RDA website a cleaned up draft that was iterated at the group's Oct 21 meeting in Washington, DC. You can find it by clicking on the "Group Wiki" button on the Legal Interoperability IG home page, and then on the "Legal Principles for Data" link in the middle of the page.
You can "Edit" the document and put in comments prior to the conference call. During the call itself I will ask one person on our group to serve as rapporteur and record notes from the group call. Others can add to that as well. I will take the notes and produce the next version of the Legal Principles. We will have subsequent weekly calls, beginning on Friday, January 9, so that we can hopefully complete the Legal Principles prior to the RDA P5 in San Diego on March 9-11.
I will send an agenda and conferencing instructions for the call itself this Thursday, Dec 11. Again, please provide your remarks on the Group Wiki prior to the call.
Thanks, and regards,
Paul

Paul: I am sorry that I will not be able to participate. This time window is exactly the time when I have to go through security to access JPL. Cheers,
Bernard
