From the EMMC (European Materials Modelling Council) perspective I would like to add some comments and qualifications regarding the Materials Vocabulary. I appreciate that this vocabulary and schema has been used in current MRR implementations. However, as we have discussed with NIST on various occasions, it is not compatible with current terminology, metadata and standards that have been developed in Europe, I particular in the Review of Materials Modelling (RoMM), the CEN Workshop Agreement CWA 17284 “Materials modelling – terminology, classification and metadata” and the EMMO (European Materials & Modelling Ontology). There are similar developments in Europe for the classification of Characterisation (CHADA).
I would therefore ask to include reference to these developments and emerging standards and refer to the current vocabulary as an ‘example’ in current use in the MRR. This would also demonstrate that MRR can in principle utilise different metadata schema (kind of obvious but still worth clarifying).
