Groups audience:

Dear All,
As you can see from the messages below, GWIIG is now officially recognized and endorsed by the RDA Council. Thanks Kathy and Simon for your support and moving it forward through the Secretariat and the TAB! And congratulations to all of you who contributed ideas and suggestions.
With this, a few additional requests and information about the meeting next week.
1. We will be switching to the group email list: ***@***.*** Please take a moment to join RDA and sign up to become group members at
2. The RDA portal supports a group wiki and a file repository – let’s start using the portal for communication. This would be the right place to share ideas before, during and after the session.
3. The GWIIG session at the 7th RDA plenary will take place on March 1st, 4:30-6pm. The overall RDA plenary schedule is at Please attend in person or remotely. Here is remote connection info:

We will test the connection before the meeting, and I will send an update to ***@***.*** if there are any changes.
4. During the session, we plan to do the following:
a. Introductions
b. Presentation about the charter, background on HDWG standards work, and discussion on topics we may want to focus on initially
c. Use case presentations (see more below)
d. Discussion of RDA outcomes and groups that we want to connect with
e. Group communication process and next steps
5. We believe that focusing on several specific use cases at the beginning would be useful. The goal is to identify common issues in water data management/sharing, and start a conversation with other RDA groups that have overlapping interests. Take a look at the initial spreadsheet that maps use cases against RDA groups: (anybody with the link can edit). You’ll see that, for several use cases, we listed potential bridges with RDA IGs. These are merely suggestions at this point, we’d need input from other groups. With this, several requests to all of you: a) if you have a water data sharing use case you are working on, and want to see it explored from the different perspectives offered by different RDA groups – please add it to the table, and indicate which groups to connect with; b) consider briefly presenting your use case at the session; c) suggest which RDA groups or individuals to invite to join us.
6. The main difficulty I have is that I don’t yet know who is planning to be there in person (besides Simon!) and who will connect remotely (except for David Arctur and Jesus Marco de Lucas who will talk about their use cases). Please let us know ASAP if you can make it, so that we tune the agenda.
7. It will be night in the US during the session time. We may have just a handful of participants from the US. Special thanks to David Arctur who is planning to be online from an inferior time zone and talk about the NFIE use case! I also hope that folks from other continents will step in.
Please email the group if you have any questions or suggestions. We are looking forward to a productive session.

Thank you very much Kathy!
Congratulations also to Tony, Sylvain and Matt who put a lot of work into it, and to all members who expressed interest in participating and provided ideas and suggestions. We look forward to working with the Secretariat and the TAB, and to our P7 session (but too bad you are not going to be there Kathy!),

Hi all -
I am happy to report that Council has Recognized and Endorsed the GWIIG as an official Interest Group. I will be your Secretariat Liaison and Simon Cox will be your TAB Liaison. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with either one of us with any questions.
Unfortunately, I can't make P7, but I wish you a very productive set of sessions.
