Hi all,
For those of you planning on being at IDW the RDA Drone Data Group is
running a flying hackathon the preceding week that I think would be of
interest to some here. We've themed it along: Earth Science, Agriculture,
and Conservation, and are planning on testing sensors and data analytics
tools over some novel flora and fauna biomes, and working on the broader
drone-data management questions. See the webpage
for more information
and the application form but in brief
*When:* October 28 to Friday, November 2, 2018.
*Where: *A wildlife sanctuary just outside of Gaborone, Botswana
*Who: *You - data and domain scientists, Academic, nonprofit and industry
researchers and developers, all who are interested in/working on
accelerating science and innovation through the use of research drones for
data capture.
*Why: *Because Science, Agriculture, and Conservation are important, and
this will be a great event for collecting new data, experimenting with new
platforms, sensors and techniques, learning from and networking with the
international Drones4Good community, and because it's conveniently
co-located with IDW.
*Cost:* USD 500 (We're still working to find more sponsors to reduce this
but currently this includes food, accommodation, and transport from
Gaborone)
