    The RDA Coordination Group Charter

Ongoing coordination is needed to evolve RDA to a more mature organization, create efficient processes, and to continue to broaden the group of participants.

The Coordination Group has representatives from the Organizing Group and Task Forces and, the Secretariat, and Council.  The Coordination Group is tasked with helping RDA continue to move forward effectively as we move towards “steady state” (hopefully attained somewhere between Plenary 2 and Plenary 3).  The TF Rep would have the responsibility to coordinate and get effective results from Task Force groups convened to help fill out RDA’s organizational and policy structure.  The Secretariat Rep would have the responsibility to coordinate efforts within the Secretariat.  The Council Rep would have the responsibility of representing Council with the TF Rep and the Secretariat Rep and working across Council to make sure that they are representing consensus from the full Council.   Because substantial effort can be allocated as part of their “day jobs”,  Leif Laaksonen has the role of TF Rep, Mark Parsons has the role of Secretariat Rep, and Fran Berman has the role of Council Rep in the Coordination Group. Mark and Leif also jointly represent the WGs and IGs

    Coordination Group Rep Responsibilities:

    ·        TF Rep:  Oversee Task Force efforts.  Work with TF Chairs to develop and maintain timelines and to create effective outcomes.  Initiate new TFs to address areas that need to be developed to create an RDA “steady state”.  Convene RDA “Sync-up” meetings every 2 weeks between Coordination Committee, TF Chairs, Secretariat, and Council (includes TAB Chair and OAB Chair when elected).  Work in partnership with Secretariat Rep and Council Rep to ensure that key issues don’t fall between the cracks.

    ·        Secretariat Rep:  Work with colleagues on the Secretariat to create and maintain an efficient structure to support RDA operations. Communicate regularly with RDA members, stakeholders, and the broader public.  Work in partnership with TF Rep and Council Rep to develop / provide appropriate support for all efforts and to ensure that key issues don’t fall between the cracks.

    ·        Council Rep:  Work with colleagues on Council to ensure that Council is engaging efficiently in the development of RDA Working Groups and Interest Groups, continuing to engage with RDAC and stakeholders, and providing appropriate leadership for RDA.  Work in partnership with the OG Rep and the Secretariat Rep to ensure that key issues don’t fall between the cracks.

The Coordinating Group maintains a high level list of tasks, deadlines, and assignments.
