Chris Eaker RDA/US Data Share Update

Hello All,
Since I was unable to give an update in person to the ETHRD and ESAD interest groups in Barcelona, I am giving an update here.
My original research project was going to deal with intrinsic motivations related to becoming a researcher and then attempt to see if it were possible to leverage those motivations to encourage more data sharing. As I worked through developing my interview guide, it became clear that I was not going to be able to do that. I wasn’t sure I would be able to make the leap from point A (intrinsic motivations) to point B (data sharing), at least not in my allotted time. Thus, I revised my study focus. Now, my project is interested in learning how researchers develop their research agenda. What things help or hinder that development? How can institutions and RDA assist researchers in developing an agenda?
I completed 11 semi-structured interviews and have begun my analysis using grounded theory methodology. Please see my poster from P9 attached. I will be presenting final (or as close to final as possible) at P10 in Montréal. I hope to see you there. Please let me know if you have any questions about my research project.
Sincerely,
Christopher Eaker
